    Obituary for Donald Kamerer

    Donald J. Kamerer, 88, of Rocky Hill, devoted and loving husband of Mary (Viola) Kamerer for 57 yrs passed away peacefully, Thursday, (November 8, 2012) at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. He was born July 3, 1924 in Hartford and was the son of the late Frederick W. and Mary (Brennan) Kamerer. He was a proud veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army, receiving a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He retired from Spencer Turbine where he was the Comptroller, retiring many years ago. He was a longtime faithful communicant of St. James Church, Rocky Hill and a member of the VFW, American Legion, Rocky Hill Senior Citizens and the DAV. Besides his wife, he is survived by his brothers-in-law, George Matson and Jerry Laurito as well as many loving and caring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Frederick W. Kamerer, Jr. and sisters, Geraldine Regini and Agnes Matson. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. A very special thank you to the hospital staff and home care staff for the care and compassion shown to Donald and his family during his illness.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. The burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill with full military honors. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald's memory may be made to St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill 06067. For online expressions of sympathy please visit www.desopo.com.
